Babies Class (0 to 9 months on 1st day of class)
For infants newborn to 8 months, as an introduction to Music Together®.
Every child's development benefits from early exposure to music and movement. Because the early months are so important, Music Together offers two options for babies ages eight months and younger. Babies are always welcome to attend a mixed-age class, whether registered on their own or attending free with an older brother or sister. Parents with infants may also register for the special Babies Class which is offered as a one-semester introduction to Music Together, after which babies would normally attend mixed-age classes.
In this class your teacher will lead you through a variety of activities, facilitating fun and creative ways for you to interact musically with your baby, offering a wealth of parent education around infant music development. Because the babies are non-mobile, there is a calmer energy in this class, allowing the teacher more opportunities to explain the ‘whys’ behind the ‘whats’ and to point out emerging musical behaviours.
Mixed-age for 0-5 year olds
This is the essentail Music Together class, one that a child can attend from birth through age four, and through all nine song collections. Child development researchers recommend mixed-age groupings because they foster naturel, family-style learning. Younger children enjoy watching and imitating older ones; older children learn by leading younger ones; and adults are happy because the children in the family can go to class together. Each child participates at their own developmental level in singing, moving, chanting, listening, watching, and exploring musical instruments. The class provides a variety of adult-child activities that are fun and relaxed, offering new ways to play musically at home, or anywhere! The whole family is welcome to join in this important family music experience and any caregiver - parent, grandparent, nanny - can bring the child(ren) to class.
Mixed-age for 4-8 year olds (aprvd by MTW)
In this class, we take the quintessential mixed-age format and tweak it to suit older children.

In this class specifically, we engage in more mature practises to challenge and excite older children with advanced expectations while moving them to the forefront of their own music-making. All while including younger kids and siblings at their own age and stage. This continues to be a parent-participating, family music program. Please reach out for more information.
