Jodie Fera, BMus (ed.), B Ed

Director & Certified Instructor

I have been involved in Music Together® since 2000 when I discovered the program as a mom attending classes with my older daughter. I was so impressed with everything Music Together had to offer that I decided to become an instructor. Having received my Bachelor of Music Education, Bachelor of Education and having been a classroom teacher for nearly five years, the shift to becoming a Music Together teacher seemed like a natural one. Especially being the mother of two young children myself. I love how fun the program is, yet so impressively educational-and the respect Music Together pays to a child's natural learning process is extraordinary. I was trained in Minneapolis, Minnesota by Lili Levinowitz Ph.D., co-author of Music Together LLC, and taught there before returning to Ontario. I believe the quality of this program is far too great to be kept a secret which led to my opening of the first Ontario centre in January, 2003.   In 2005 I pursued further training offered by Music Together to earn my Certification Level promoting excellence throughout our centre.

Instructor (Cambridge)

I discovered Music Together in 2006 when I brought my daughter to a class.  I was immediately taken with it.  What appealed to me was the natural, honest philosophy of simply making music - no tricks, just a desire to create music and have fun.  The music blends perfectly into our everyday lives and it has been a joy to watch our daughter musically develop, with such a well researched program.  I knew I had to be a part of it.  I have a Master of Music in composition and have had my music performed in Canada and the U.S.  I also teach private music students, direct a children's choir and am the Director of Music for a church in Guelph.  Music Together for me is a way of filling out the spectrum of music in our community, from infants to amateurs to seasoned professionals.  Music Together recognizes that music is a birthright and I am happy to be part of an organization that takes this seriously.  Music is for everyone.

Christa Nesbitt, Hons BBA, CMA

Instructor

I discovered Music Together in 2006 as a parent in class with my two daughters. I love the family focused classes where we can all be together, and where each child is given the opportunity to learn at their own pace. My daughters still enjoy the classes, and I love watching them develop musically. Almost as importantly though, is how much fun I have in class!

I was brought up studying music at an early age beginning with piano lessons at age five.  During my teenaged years I switched to flute and also took dance, learning ballet, jazz and tap.  I rediscovered my passion for music when I became a mom.  I love sharing music with my children in a fun, creative and physical way.

After attending a recent teacher training in Princeton , New Jersey , I am excited to share the Music Together program with other families.

Instructor

When I first began attending Music Together classes with my daughter in 2004, I was amazed to find a program of such impressive richness and quality. In class and at home, Music Together tapped into a love for music that had been with me throughout my life, and allowed me to revel in the delight that it brought to my children! It didn’t take long for me to consider sharing this experience with others by becoming a Music Together teacher. I have always believed in the power of music to shape experience, so that whether I was learning, performing, or teaching, music was very much a part of my personal and professional life. As an elementary schoolteacher (Honours Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Education) I used music extensively to support learning, and was always attracted to vibrant, research-based teaching that celebrated individual learning styles and strengths. Music Together seemed to offer just that—even to my own children, who expressed themselves musically in such different ways! For the past few years, I have also had the opportunity to co-ordinate and teach infant, toddler and preschool programs on a volunteer basis. It is a privilege to bring these two passions—music and children—together, as a Music Together teacher in my hometown of K-W.
