Who may benefit from a scholarship?
Anyone may benefit from a scholarship, from families taking the class for the first time to families who have been part of the MTofKW family for years.
Do I need to divulge personal financial information?
No, no financial data is asked for. The honor system rules here. If you request a scholarship we take you at your word that you need the assistance. Simply answer the questions on the scholarship page and your request will be considered.
Are scholarships ever denied?
On occasion, yes. Unfortunately there are a few people who may not value the principals of Music Together of Kitchener-Waterloo, and therefore not truly benefit from the program. It is only fair in that case to pass the scholarship along to a family that will benefit from the family and community music-making experience. This is rare, and examples of scholarship denials are multiple absences that are not due to a special circumstance, an unwillingness on the part of the adult to participate in class, etc.
How are the scholarships awarded?
The questions on the Scholarship Application page are answered by the applicant and submitted to the director, via email or letter mail. Once the application has been processed the available funds are reviewed and scholarship amounts are determined. Every measure is taken to provide opportunities to all applicants, however sometimes this is fiscally not possible
